Utopia 79

documentary

“25 years after the sandinista revolution, what are the consequences of this utopian dream on Nicaraguans?”

SINOPSIS/
The 1979 Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua had its roots in the idealism of the 1960s and 70s. Disillusioned with the failure of supposed democracy, many saw this new utopia as the last chance’ to establish a truly democratic government. But the dream slowly fell apart, thanks in part to the US-backed Contras and the mistakes of the Sandinista leaders themselves.
But what effect has the revolution had on the generations that followed it?
25 years later, what were the consequences of this utopian dream on Nicaraguans and Europeans?
